A large infrastructure boom is expected for Brisbane over the next few years
After experiencing a decade of relatively stagnant infrastructure progression, the Financial Review published that Brisbane is set to experience a ‘$15 billion infrastructure boom’ over the next few years. The works tie in with Brisbane City Council’s ‘Long-Term Infrastructure Plan 2012-2031’ originally released in 2007. It looks to provide Australia’s third most populated city with the key transport, water, energy, telecom and waste management infrastructure. They estimate the population will grow from 2.2 million to nearly 3 million by 2030.
Implementing the ‘Brisbane Long Term Infrastructure Plan (BLTIP) 2012-2031′ aims to contribute to the “triple bottom line” which has been summarised as:
- Growing the economy – enhancing the city’s capacity for long-term economic growth
- Building communities – supporting a growing and diverse Brisbane population
- Enhancing the environment – managing and mitigating the impact on the natural environment
The timing of the Brisbane infrastructure boom couldn’t be better for Barker Ryan Stewart.
